I've been overly occupied with my domestic duties and have sadly been neglecting my site, but no more! I have returned, and I bring some photographs from the 2013 Spring/Summer Garden. Almost everything is dormant currently...except the tobacco, which is growing more wildly than before, and the aloe, which is flowering...and the rosemary, which is covered in little blue flowers. I have also started planning for this Spring. For now enjoy the slide show, next will be some tradition uses associated with some of my favorite plant spirits.
This is one of my favorite Love Bottle Spells. It works best for someone already in your life, but can also be used to draw back a distanced or ex-lover, as well as strengthen & intensify a current romance.
Cast your love spell on the first Friday of the new moon. Obtain three candles, one color to symbolize you (such as the color of your birthstone), one for your lover, and one red or pink candle, to symbolize your growing love.
Carve your candle with your planetary sign (Jupiter/Pisces), element (Water), & initials (MM); then carve your lover's candle the same. Carve the planetary symbols for Venus & Mars on the red candle, along with the eternity symbol & any other love symbols you desire. Dress all three candles with sweet almond oil while concentrating on invoking the power of the goddess, and imbue the candles with your desires as you rub them with the oil.
Create an altar to perform the ritual. Clean & decorate the space. Burn sage to cleanse the area of previous energy. Place offerings to specific aspects of the goddess for different situations on your altar to gain aide (Isis, Bastet, Hectate, Freyja, Ohsun, Xochiquetzal, Ishtar, Maitresse Ezili, Pomba Gira, Kybele, or any others. Some are better are bringing back a lost love, others are more useful to heat up a current romance.). Most goddesses appreciate milk, honey, and flowers, but they all have favorites, if you wish to get in their really good graces.
Before performing the ritual take a long bath, with candles & incense. Infuse the water with sea salt, almond oil, rose petals, lavender, and rosemary. As you soak cleanse yourself and clear your mind to focus all your energy on the upcoming spell. Air dry.
Once you are ready gather these ingredients with your intent in mind:
2 Bay Leaves (One with each your names)
2 Mugwort leaves
2 leaves of White sage
Cinnamon (or ginger to give your spell heat)
One Angel's Trumpet Flower
(Be sure to thank the plant spirits for assisting you, & leave them an offering if possible, even something simple like water)
Vanilla, Confectioner's Sugar, and lastly, Honey & Agave (to cover everything).
Personal affects: Hair, nail clippings, bodily fluids, & personal objects such as bits of clothing.
One glass bottle or jar to put the ingredients in.
Next, take a piece of paper & red pen, then write:
(Full name of lover, ie: John Smith), son/daughter of (Mother's name) will desire me like never before. His eye will flash with images of me, his ears burn to hear my voice, his mouth will thirst to touch mine, his hands & arms will ache for me, his heart will pound my name, his soul will long for mine & his feet will carry him to me. He will not sleep without dreams of me. He will not breathe without whispering my name.
Imagine each part of your lover's body as you do this, and see this happening. Visualize him or her, where ever they are, and see yourself commanding this to him/her in his/her ear.
If desired, consecrate your written desire with blood, and/or add a plea for a chosen aspect of the goddess to take sympathy on your situation & offer aide.
Finally, bind the candles together with red thread, knotting it nine times, locking the energy into the knots (just as chemical energy lies in the molecular bonds). Place the candles on the altar & light them. Read your words, with only moon & candle light upon you.
Play appropriate music in the background if you like & take inspiration from the emotions & energy in the music. Once you recite your incantation, roll or fold your paper up nine times, and place it into the bottle with the herbs. Cover everything in raw honey &/or agave.
Focus your energy on your desires & let the candles liquify. Once you are ready, pour the wax on your bottle, sealing the cork or lid. You can now re-energize your magick bottle regularly, by lighting fresh candles on top of it, placing quartz or lodestones on it, shaking it, and making offerings to the goddess with the bottle on your altar.
I see an almost immediate response to my bottle spells, some have been effective enough even to surprise me. The response will be more significant depending on how successful you are at harnessing your energy, how dedicated you are to the desire, and how intense the emotions you put into the spell are.
If you ever decide to end the spell, bury the bottle at a crossroads, to safely dispose of it.
As always, let me know me how your experiences go. I truly take a great interest in the success rate & accuracy of my practice.
In Service of the Goddess,
-- Mistress Moonflower
I've begin to work on the spring 2013 Moonflower garden. This year I've got quite a few varieties of seeds germinating or being pretreated with cold stratification right now.
Many have already started to sprout, so it looks like a very promising year :Lemon Balm, Lavender Bergamot, Catnip, Yarrow, White Sage, Monkshood, Purple Poppies, Mugwort, Valerian, Hopi Tobacco, Wormwood, Evening Primrose, Chamomile, Datura "Mranaha", Mountain Mint, Lady Lavender, Spikenard, Skullcap, Clary Sage, Rue, Borage, Belladonna, Vervain, Hyssop, Morning Glories, Garlic, Red peppers, Rosemary, & Basil.
Pictures of the little ones will be coming soon, as many will meet the with Mother Earth shortly.
I think I have my hands full at the moment, but I'd love to make the addition of some Iris's, some nice purple Basil, Licorice, Calamus, & maybe even a little Dracaena draco tree. Once these are all going strong I'll see about those last few. The basil and licorice will be easy, but the Calamus, Iris, & Dracaena will likely require some extra care.
I strongly prefer to use herbs I actually harvest myself in all my spell-work. This allows me to harvest them with a particular energy and goal in mind. I can also thank the plant spirit for it's generous aide, & make offerings as needed. Although many of these grow locally, it'll be wonderful to have them all in my own garden, where they can be gathered at only the most auspicious times.
Welcome to my blog, soon to be filled with recipes, incantations, research, lore, encounters, herb collecting, and plenty more. As well as general information about my everyday pagan rituals, and of course the exploits of my ever mischievous familiars.
